Team Pastor
"Where can we invest our lives to make the biggest contribution for God's kingdom?"
That's the question that led Doug and Debbie Clark to join the staff of NNYM in 1990.
Doug served as a youth pastor for 16 years at Rose Drive Friends Church – a church with a solid history of a global missions focus – which built in them a world view that includes caring deeply about the Great Commission.
While at RDFC, Doug began working alongside other youth leaders around SoCal to collaborate for greater effectiveness and longevity, which connected him and the "Southern Cal Association of Youth Workers" to the National Network in 1983.
Then in 1990, the Clarks followed God's prompting to join NNYM staff.
As National Field Director, Doug serves as promotion coordinator for See You at the Pole, is involved in networking in San Luis Obispo County locally, and helps lead a dynamic team of field leaders who currently serve hundreds of local networks in 10 regions across the US.
The Clarks have been married since 1979. They live in Atascadero, Calif. and have adult kids: Betsi, who married Josh Ashby in 2015, and Ian, who married Emily in 2017. They all live in California. And don't get us started about the grandkids!
Why Network?
- It echoes the prayer of Jesus in John 17:20-23 for unity in the church and reaching the world for Christ - especially young people.
- It helps youth leaders last longer! The average youth pastor serves 3.9 years in one position, while youth leaders who are active in healthy local networks average 9.2 years in youth ministry.
- It makes Christian workers more effective through collaboration. Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor."

Why NNYM?
- NNYM is the most-recognized voice in the church in the US for biblical unity among youth workers. NNYM is the youth "representative" for the National Association of Evangelicals and NXT Moves, as well as hosting the Youth Ministry Executive Council and numerous partnerships with youth-ministry-serving organizations and denominations.
- NNYM offers clear, biblical training to youth leaders to build healthy local networks in their communities, helping them reach the teenagers where they live.
- NNYM champions the vision to share the gospel with every teenager in America, and help launch them to join in God's work around the world (fulfilling the Great Commission).
